Ash River
The Ash River, close to Clarens, is a small river with big rapids. As the water emerges from the tunnel (from Katse dam in Lesotho), it runs down the Ash River at a good gradient, creating excellent rapids for white water rafting. Rapids on the Ash river are rated from grade 3 to 4. Only bigger rafts are used.
The Ash River rush down a scenic terrain with clear blue water making for good action photography. No expertise is needed since all rafts have a raft master (trained guide) in control.
Age restriction is 12 years except if smaller kids sit out at the bigger rapids.
Ash River packages:
Half day: White water rafting including refreshments.
Full day: White water rafting including refreshments and a river lunch.
